Answer These 10 Simple Questions About Your Non-Profit Group

Please answer these questions with as much detail as possible. The more detail you include the more compelling your page will be to attract potential adopters. Please avoid giving answers like "visit our website for more information", since this doesn't give ample information to evaluate your group.

  
1. Tell us about your rescue/adoption group’s background and experience.
Areas may want to address:
  • Who's behind the management of your rescue/adoption group?
  • What inspired you to start a horse adoption/rescue group?
  • How long have your been working with horses? In what capacity?
  • How long has your group been active in horse adoption/rescue?
  • To date, about how many horses have you helped?



  
2. How do you acquire your rescue horses that are later offered for adoption?
Areas may want to address:
  • What are your horses being rescued from? Abuse? Financially strapped owners? Wild horses?
  • Where are your horses being rescued from? Locally? Other states?
  • Can people in your community contact you if they see a horse that is in need of rescuing?
  • How often do you get new rescue horses at your facility?
  • What is the maximum number of rescue horses you can have at one time?



  
3. Tell us about how your rescue group rehabilitates horses before they are adopted.
Areas may want to address:
  • What efforts and resources does your group contribute to get a horse ready to adopt?
  • Do you train the rescued horses? For riding? To be friendly? To not be scared of humans?
  • How to group volunteers participate in the rehabilitation efforts?
  • What kinds of vet care do the horses get prior to adoption?



  
4. Tell us a few aspects that you think set your horse rescue/adoption group apart from other groups in your state.
Areas may want to address:
  • Do you make yourself available for additional questions and concerns from past adopters?
  • Do you have any group activities that involve your past adopters?
  • Are there any specialized horse care efforts your group offers that others do not?

9. Please list any testimonials from past horse owners who have adopted from you.
Areas may want to address:
  • How have past adopters enjoyed their new companions?
  • How have past adopters felt about your group's adoption process?
  • How have past adopters felt about the support & guidance from your group before and after the adoption?



  
10. Does your horse rescue group accept donations and/or local volunteer support?
Areas may want to address:
  • Is there a minimum hourly commitment you require from volunteers?
  • What types of tasks do you need/want volunteers to do?
  • Do your volunteers need to be horse experts or owners? Or just someone who wants to help?
  • Do you accept donations online? by mail? over the phone?
