Group Background:
Most of our work is done by the founders of this Organization and some is done by volunteers. The cost is supported by the founders (Triple D Livestock Inc.) and donation from the public. The rescue was inspired from seeing so many horses that were good healthy horses sold at auctions because they couldn't run fast enough to draw a paycheck at the track and no one there wanted them, some we mishandled to the point of making them crazy horses to be around because they were so afraid of humans. We have been working with horses for over 45 years and 2 years into the rescue/adoption.

How are Horses Acquired:
Most horses come to us from people who no longer want them here in Oregon. Those who want to own a horse can earn one in our program with a sponsor helping with the adoption fee. The funds are used to feed-care-transport- rehabilitate and support our program. Anyone can contribute to help these horses. We have room for those who want to live around horses and help out at our ranch.

How the Horses Rehabilitated:
We find out the personality of each horse, what they know and are trained for. Than we can put them into a category and up for adoption making sure they go to a home where they fit into the life style, needs, and family or person has the experience to handle the horse.

If they are not friendly or rideable we work on the horses to get them people friendly or trained to to ride. In some cases they never become totally trusting and do not make good companions or saddle horses. Having the knowledge to do most vet work our ;group can worm-vaccinate-hoof care and Dr. most minor injuries. We invite the public to visit and take part in helping take care of the horses we feel are safe enough for the public to be around and enjoy them while they brush-clean-ride and handle them

Group Specialties:
Our Organization encourages the public to email us anytime for questions or help they may need for anything involving horses. We also have a professional trainer that can help with training issues. Helping you make good decision in most situations. Riding lessons are giving at a hourly wage to help those who want to learn how to ride and take care of a horse. The money paid goes into the organization.

Rewards:
Our group is not registered as a non-profit organization but it is a no profit organization and everything received goes into the program to feed and care for the horses. We have never received any special awards, grants or other recognition for our work but do it out of the love we have for the horse. With less than 1% contributions from the public we have funded the operation so far.

Typical Day at the Facility:
Each day the horses are feed and watered. Those who have stall are turned out to rump and have free time. They are check daily for foot problems or any injuries they might have gotten from playing. In the summer months we have had up to 7 people daily who help out with caring for the horses. winters are not as much fun so there is usually 2 of us working full time with the horses. Rain, snow or sun shine these horses have to have full care as they depend on humans to take care of them since they are now running in the wild.

Horses Available:
We can have from 1 to 10 horses at a time up for adopt every month. Unfortunately they don't all find a home.

Adoption Procedures:
Adopted horse must have adequate pasture/paddock/fencing to contain with the least chance of injury. Shelter of some form would be an asset to the care of the horse.

The adoption fees are based on the horse being put up for adoption. A potential adopter must be able to prove that he or she can afford to care for a horse. Also having references is always good.

Testimonials:
Our family is enjoying our new horse so much. She is love and so much time is being spent with her. All the kid who come to our home have something to look forward to having such a nice horse to spend time with. She is a tool with our foster home for children. Thanks CloudsAndClover, Shelly.

Donations & Local Volunteers:
We don't have a hourly commitment for any one person to volunteer but it helps us to know in advance when we are going to have someone who wants to help from day to day. We are in need of stall cleaners and grooms daily. It is good to have some experience to be around most of the horses or to handle them but sometimes we have a couple of horses that are good for the beginner. We do have a web site where we can accept contributions online through PayPal, but not limited to. Contributions can also be mailed to our P.O. box.

Comments:
We hope that we can help many horses in our journey, exploring ways to fund the operation and educating the public about how great these creatures are. A horse can be your best friend if you love them and they can give you years of companionship and miles of scenic trail rides, thrills of competition with others. If you are horse crazy, love the outdoors, don't mind getting up to feed your pal who waits for there meal and depends on you for kindness and health care than you should look into adopting a horse.

The Right Saddle for Cutting or Reining

For cutting and reining horse events, you definitely need a saddle that’s designed to help you "ride in balance and sit the stop." First, you want a saddle that was designed and built specifically for reining or cutting. Both of these designs have their individual advantages but remember, just because the manufacturer "calls" it a reining saddle doesn’t mean it was designed "well" for reining.
